Today I wanted to talk about AI's capabilities for text translation or simultaneous translation. It's truly wonderful and makes our lives much easier when we're in another country where we don't know the language, or when we want to communicate with someone who doesn't speak ours. As an anecdote, I'll share the story of my aunt, who's over 70, "talking" to someone her age via mobile phone because they spoke different languages. The other person is also a distant relative. However, I still find this system rather impersonal when you have a business meeting or an international gathering between several countries. In those situations, I think having a translator, or above all, knowing the other person's language, is a way to bridge the gap. Furthermore, idiomatic expressions, different accents, or a mix of dialects could complicate the situation. That's why the phrase in today's drawing...

Although AI helps us with many things, it won't always give us all the information. Sometimes we haven't asked the right question, or we haven't requested certain details properly. In any case, the AI's output can be complemented with our own ideas, using that increasingly rare resource: natural intelligence.
I recently read that university papers are becoming more and more alike, and that's because they're all done with AI, and therefore very similar. Since we don't add anything of our own, the result is that we think less and less. Let's take advantage of the fact that we still have a few useful neurons left, and let's be different.

"I see dead people!" A famous line from the movie "The Sixth Sense," which we'll call "hallucinations." That's precisely what AI does from time to time. If it doesn't know the answer, it makes one up. This is also called "hallucinations." The curious thing is that it presents this invented answer with complete certainty and coherence, as if it were the leading expert on the subject. It's like in real life, when you ask someone at work who's supposed to be the expert, and since they don't know the answer, they make one up. AI learns in this way too.
