Hoy quería poner este dibujo sobre la IA, que hice hará un par de años. Toda una eternidad en este tema. Hoy cuando abro Linkedin, una gran parte de los artículos que me aparecen, hablan sobre la IA, sus comandos, sus diferentes modelos, sus diferentes versiones, etc. Es un filón informativo lleno de atajos, de ideas, de descubrimientos. Quizás dentro de dos años hayamos dejado de escribir, incluso de dibujar, y será la IA o la AI, la que se encargue de crear nuestros artículos, incluso puede que los firme con su nombre. Lo iremos viendo. No voy a decir que éste sea el último dibujo de la serie sobre la IA, pero de momento haré un paréntesis, dado que hay más temas sobre los que escribir, ..., mientras podamos.

Today I wanted to share this drawing about AI, which I did a couple of years ago. It feels like an eternity to be on this topic. These days, when I open LinkedIn, a large portion of the articles that pop up are about AI: its commands, its different models, its different versions, and so on. Hoy quería hablar de la IA en los coches, y de las ADAS, las ayudas a la conducción. A mí más que "HADAS", me parecen "BRUJAS". No digo que no sean positivas, y que te avisen de los posibles peligros que puedan ocurrir, pero que estén pitando todo el rato, la verdad es que no ayudan mucho, y ponen nervioso. Si tengo que dar un volantazo para esquivar un bache, el coche me corrige y me mueve el volante para que me coma el bache. Digo yo, que algo podré decidir. Si me adelantan por la izquierda, si es por la derecha también. Si me acerco a un coche para adelantarle, me pita. Como se te olvide desactivar los más molestos antes de salir de viaje, tienes que parar para quitarlos. Si llevas a alguien que quiere echar una cabezadita, acaba con TOC de tanto pitido, como acabó Encarna con las empanadillas de Móstoles. Por favor, menos pitidos. Al menos esta es mi opinión personal.

Today I wanted to talk about AI in cars and ADAS, the driver assistance systems. To me, they're more like "witches" than "fairies." I'm not saying they aren't positive, and that they warn you of potential hazards, but the constant beeping isn't very helpful and it's nerve-wracking. If I have to swerve to avoid a pothole, the car corrects me and moves the steering wheel so I hit the pothole. I mean, I should be able to make some decisions. It beeps if someone passes me on the left, and even if they're passing me on the right. If I approach another car to overtake, it beeps. If you forget to deactivate the most annoying ones before setting off on a trip, you have to stop to turn them off. If you have someone who wants to take a nap, they end up with OCD from all the beeping, like Encarna did with the empanadas from Móstoles. Please, less beeping. At least that's my personal opinion.

Hoy quería hablar de las capacidades de la IA para la traducción de textos o traducción simultanea. Hay que decir que es una maravilla y que nos facilita la vida  cuando estamos en otro país donde no conocemos el idioma, o nos queremos comunicar con alguien que no habla el nuestro. Como anécdota contaré el caso de una tía mía, que tiene más de 70 años, "hablando" con otra persona de su edad, a través del móvil, porque hablaban idiomas diferentes. La otra persona también es un familiar indirecto. Sin embargo sigo viendo este sistema muy frío cuando tienes una reunión de negocios o un encuentro internacional entre varios estados. En esos casos creo que tener un traductor, o sobre todo, conocer el idioma del otro es un punto de acercamiento. Además los giros idiomáticos, los diferentes acentos, o la mezcla de dialectos, podrían complicar la situación. Por eso la frase del dibujo de hoy ...

Today I wanted to talk about AI's capabilities for text translation or simultaneous translation. It's truly wonderful and makes our lives much easier when we're in another country where we don't know the language, or when we want to communicate with someone who doesn't speak ours. As an anecdote, I'll share the story of my aunt, who's over 70, "talking" to someone her age via mobile phone because they spoke different languages. The other person is also a distant relative. However, I still find this system rather impersonal when you have a business meeting or an international gathering between several countries. In those situations, I think having a translator, or above all, knowing the other person's language, is a way to bridge the gap. Hoy he querido añadir a la serie de dibujos sobre la IA, uno que hice hace 3 años. Creo que fue el primero en el que hablaba de este tema. Por aquel entonces oíamos hablar por primera vez de ChatGPT, que salió a finales de 2022, y que llevo esta tecnología a los ciudadanos de a pie. Parece que fue hace mucho más tiempo, pero no es así. Es cierto que desde entonces han salido muchos modelos de IA, muchas versiones de cada modelo y parece mentira que esto haya ocurrido tan sólo en los últimos 3 años. Imaginemos como será esta tecnología cuando pasen otros 3 ...

Today I wanted to add to my series of drawings about AI one that I did three years ago. I think it was the first one where I addressed this topic. Back then, we were just hearing about ChatGPT, which came out at the end of 2022 and brought this technology to everyday people. It seems like a long time ago, but it wasn't. It's true that since then, many AI models have been released, many versions of each model, and it's incredible that this has all happened in just the last three years. Siguiendo con mi serie sobre la IA, hoy he querido hacer un guiño al día del libro, 23 de Abril, día en el que homenajeamos a esos dos escritores de la antigüedad que murieron el mismo día (o casi), Shakespeare y Cervantes (23 y 22 de Abril de 1616). 

Hay que decir que cada día se leen menos libros, o al menos es lo que dicen las estadísticas, pero además cada vez se escribe menos, y no lo digo por los escritores, si no por la gente de a pie. 

La IA nos hace los resúmenes por nosotros, así que no necesitamos escribir, y si además se encarga de leernos los textos, y hacernos un resumen, al final ni leemos ni escribimos. Utilicemos de vez en cuando esa inteligencia natural que todavía nos queda, y sentémonos a leer un buen libro por nosotros mismos. Disfrutemos de ese pequeño e intenso placer que la IA nos quiere arrebatar. Aunque no soy de poner links externos, hoy día del libro, me acordaba de un sketch antiguo sobre los problemas que tuvieron en la edad media con el paso del pergamino al libro, y la ayuda que necesitaban del "HelpDesk". Continuing with my series on AI, today I wanted to acknowledge World Book Day, April 23rd, the day we honor those two ancient writers who died on the same day (or almost): Shakespeare and Cervantes (April 23rd and 22nd, 1616). 

It must be said that fewer and fewer books are being read each day, or at least that's what the statistics say. But what's more, less and less is being written, and I'm not referring to writers, but to ordinary people. 

AI summarizes things for us, so we don't need to write, and if it also reads texts to us and summarizes them, in the end we neither read nor write. Let's use that natural intelligence we still possess from time to time, and sit down to read a good book ourselves. Let's enjoy that small, intense pleasure that AI wants to take away from us.

Aunque la IA nos ayude con muchas cosas, no siempre nos va a dar toda la información. A veces no hemos hecho la pregunta correcta, o no hemos pedido bien ciertos detalles. Sea como fuere, el resultado de la IA puede ser complementado con ideas propias, utilizando eso que cada vez abunda menos, que es la inteligencia natural.

Leía hace poco que los trabajos universitarios cada vez se parecen más entre sí, y es que están hechos todos con IA, y por lo tanto son muy parecidos, y como no añadimos nada de nuestra cosecha, el resultado es que cada vez pensamos menos. Aprovechemos que todavía nos queda alguna neurona útil, y seamos diferentes

Although AI helps us with many things, it won't always give us all the information. Sometimes we haven't asked the right question, or we haven't requested certain details properly. ¡ En ocasiones veo muertos ! Mítica frase de la película "El sexto sentido", que denominaremos "alucinaciones". Eso es precisamente lo que la IA hace de vez en cuando. Si no conoce la respuesta, se la inventa. A esto también se le denomina "alucinaciones". Lo curioso es que esa respuesta inventada, te la presenta con total seguridad y coherencia, como si fuera el mayor experto en ese tema. Es como en la vida real, cuando preguntas en tu trabajo a alguien que se supone que es el experto, y como no conoce la respuesta, se la inventa. En esto la IA también aprende.

Claramente la IA no puede hacerlo todo, pero si nos da unas pautas para hacer una parte y facilitarnos la vida, pues estupendo. La semana pasada dejábamos al protagonista del dibujo sin ayuda, pero finalmente la IA ha hecho algo por él.

Recuerdo cuando alguien de mi equipo venía con un problema y me lo contaba, y mientras lo hacía se daba cuenta de la solución, y se iba tan contento, como si yo le hubiera ayudado en algo, cuando lo único que había hecho era escucharle. Saber escuchar a tu equipo es fundamental para motivar. Ellos son los expertos, pero esperan que si tienen un problema, les ayudes con la solución o con la toma de decisiones.

Clearly, AI can't do everything, but if it gives us guidelines for doing a part of the job and makes our lives easier, then fantastic. Last week, we left the cartoon character without help, but finally, AI did something for him.

I remember when someone on my team would come to me with a problem and explain it, and while they were doing so, they'd figure out the solution and leave so happy, as if I had actually helped them, when all I had done was listen. Knowing how to listen to your team is fundamental for motivation. They are the experts, but they expect that if they have a problem, you'll help them with the solution or with the decision-making process.

Cuando ves algunos videos de IA te preguntas "¿Te estás quedando conmigo". Pues efectivamente, la IA ha venido para quedarse, para quedarse contigo. Es cierto que empieza a regularse y que será útil para muchos campos, pero también nos va a dar muchos dolores de cabeza en el futuro. Los incrédulos no se creerán nada, ni siquiera los auténticos, y los crédulos se lo creerán todo, lo que provocará disgustos, sobre todo en el ámbito de la ciberseguridad. Esperemos no acabar con la poca inteligencia que nos queda, y que no dejemos todo en manos de la artificial, porque será el principio del fin.

La inteligencia artificial, IA ó AI, ha venido para quedarse. Lo que no sabemos es si es para ayudarnos. Hay cosas en as que claramente nos va a facilitar la vida, en algunos trabajos, pero otras donde nos la va a complicar, como en ciberataques. Lo que si creo es que va a hacer que nosotros cada vez seamos más torpes, porque si las cosas nos las dan hechas, no necesitaremos pensar.

¿Alguien se acuerda de cuando nuestros padres, o algunos de nosotros de cierta edad como yo, éramos capaces de ir de una punta a otra de España, con un simple mapa de carreteras? Hoy, para ir a por el pan a la esquina, nos ponemos el GPS.

Artificial intelligence, AI or AI, is here to stay. What we don't know is if it is to help us. Presente o futuro

La inteligencia artificial está llegando poco a poco a nuestras vidas, y multitud de herramientas nos permiten aprovechar sus funcionalidades de una forma global, algo que hasta hace poco sólo estaba al alcance de grandes corporaciones, que lo introducían en su software.

Pero tampoco nos vengamos arriba, la información que nos da, puede no ser veraz, estar manipulada, o ser inexacta.

Por otro lado, puedes pedir información sobre un tema del que no tienes ni idea, e interpretarlo mal, o usarlo en un contexto erróneo.

En mi opinión la IA nos puede ayudar en muchos casos, pero tampoco estará de menos contar con un mínimo de inteligencia personal, para saber interpretar toda la información, así que los burros, están descartados (por el momento).

Little by little, artificial intelligence is entering our lives, and a multitude of tools allow us to take advantage of its functionalities in a global way, something that until recently was only available to large corporations, which included it in their software.

But let's not come up either, the information it gives us may not be true, be manipulated, or be inaccurate.
